Personally I don't see any need of translating this forum into english as in making an english mirror site... there is no need of doing something extra like this to put more weights on the admin's shoulder. Sure there are some good suggusting about spreading yamibo oversea into the english world. However I feel that we will loose the uniqueness, the originality, and the warmth that yamibo curretly holds. But this doesn't mean i don't want yamibo to spread worldwide, actually I wish the world would recongnize yamibo and know our existance. But I feel that we should let the world learn us that we are a chinese forum, but with the support from both chinese and english users even though we are a chinese forum. In doing so we don't need to make a mirror site. I read some suggustion on making an English disscussion board, it can inculde translated comics or other sort. It is kind of like "http://www.lililicious.net/", we can translate our own comics (I'll be happy to help translate).

The majority of those who support this suggestion seem to think an English sub-forum is workable. We can also be certain that there is no lack of people who are willing to translate. But let's be more precise on what materials shall be translated.

1. All major yuri news and updates that will be posted in the main Chinese discussion broad in the future. Given the amount of posters who are fluent in both languages, I don't imagine this to be too difficult a task.

2. Mangas that are already translated into Chinese (or if there are posters here who understand Japanese and want to translate it into English, I don't see why it couldn't be done)

That's all I am proposing right now. Since if this English sub-forum is going to take off at all, I don't think we should beat ourselves with too ambitious a goal (like translating even the fanfictions here). Then again, this is just my personal opinion.

Unless we have a clear objective and direction of where the sub-forum should go, we will forever stuck in this "should we or should we not" stage.

You're forgetting an important issue. Which is licence and copyright. The reason why the industry watchdogs ignore this and other places where sharing, scantalating and subbing are commonplace is because it's in chinese. Personally, I don't fully care for the US licence holders as I do think it's unfair to deprive the chinese fans just because an english company acquires the licence. Once it's known that we do english scantalations here, they might notice and take issue with it. For example, have you heard of Dynasty scans?  Like us, they were also scantalating Strawberry Panic. After Strawberry Panic was licenced by Seven Seas, they forced Dynasty Scans to take down all the strawberry panic manga and even posted in their forums, proberly to show they weren't bluffing.

Of course, here we are safe. I doubt they can even navigate the forum. yamibohk03  Furthermore, we also have translated manga + novels of nearly their entire strawberry line. yamibohk05

On a more serious note, if the server for the forum is located in asia, it shouldn't be a problem if you want to ignore them. Also, we have so much good stuff like anime and games, it would a pity if we lose them.

To mantain security, it's advisable to leave the main manga threads as chinese transalations. English transalations can be done in bulk and uploaded to the sharing section and/or the english sub-forum and make the eng-sub forum avalible to registered users only.

I agree, it's taxing work and that actually would be up to the author's permission. Whether she/he would like their fic translated or not. Also, I still stand by that people should really attempt to read it in Chinese first.

i agree with the license issue , let's keep them translated into chinese and noone will bother nag on our noses b/c of this , and if someone had an issue with that i have a suggestion for it , for example we have square 1 of page 1 of a manga we mark it as (1) and translation is sent by a text file ^^ , and that text file is only available for registered users that's how they can't bother us b/c translation in English was in text file not in the manga itself , so i pretty much find this idea cool ^^ , what do u think?

otherwise,I really dont know whats this about,  99+% of the members here are chinese speakers and this is not a site for english study.Unless a lot of english speakers who do not know chinese are here which i doubt....but even in that case a sub-forum will be unnecessary, just post english here,admin can also just pin a thread for instruction and that's all.
About english translation.....unless yamibo really wants to go international(i mean be THE site for non-japanese yuri stuff), i dont see any sense in making such a effort, not to mention the risk and all.

Hey guys, this thread is overwhelming lol

Even though I've been a lurker/submariner in 300, just wanted to put in my two cents with regards to this topic. You're welcome to egg me after reading my suggestion, since I found it a little faulty too.

I don't know how this sub-forum thing is going to pan out, but for the mean time, what about a webpage, blog post or even a Powerpoint to teach international fans how to navigate around the 300 site? Like how to hit the reply button instead of the self-destruct button (lol jokes)
It would give them more incentive to learn more Chinese I think.

But I think the problem that comes with this is that maybe random english posts will come up in threads, and that gotta to be a kicker for 300 users. I for one is gonna find it disconcerting, even though I understand both languages. yamiboqe009

But yeah, its just an idea, if people warms up to it, I'll try to do like something like- "A introductory guide to the world of 300" yamiboqe030

并不是卖弄词汇,美国的高中生就要求20000词汇.
中国教的东西总是太简单. 而把区分的工作完全放在了枯燥的用法上,那些东西外国人都不知道. 比如CUT AND RUN,daund nine.

中国的教育总是与实际相差太远. 学的简单但却繁琐. 掏力不得好.
